When a task is completed - send email

Hello, I am creating a flow where I need to send an automated email to a requesters email to notify them of completion.  this is off the back of a flow that is already functioning as follows;

Forms - When a response is submitted

Forms - Get response details

Excel - Add row into a table

Planner - Create task

Planner - Update task details

What I now need to do is once a task is completed, the email submitted by the requester in forms needs to be sent an email of the completed request.  As far as I can see this needs to be conducted from a separate flow triggered by 'when a task is completed' my issue is, I cannot get the original email from the form submission as its not connected to the previous flow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi @Jagoo

    You need to save the email somewhere else to look it up. So when a forms is submitted, you need to save the e-mail from this into your planner task details (for example, if this field is not used) or in some other place, like a SharePoint list. If you are using a SharePoint list, also add the task id. Once the task is completed, you can either get the e-mail from the details of the task or you need to look it up within the SharePoint list using "get items". then you can send the email.

    Also, since SharePoint Lists (Microsoft Lists) now support board views, you could also consider creating your own Planner Tasklist within a SharePoint List and adding another column to store the email address right within the task itself.

    Does this help you? Otherwise please give me some more information.

    Best regards
    Marvin

    Hello! I have the same problem. Can you walk me through with what you did? Email address is saved in task details, I can't seem to make it work.

    Thanks!

    I used the advice submitted by @MarvinBangert to address the issue, if the dynamic content for responders email is placed within the task content it can then be re used in 'send and email (V2)'

    this should be available to select as dynamic content if it is placed within task content.

    Thanks for your reply. My concern is that apart from email that is saved in task details, it also contains other information.

    How do you suggest to proceed?

    Thanks!

    What I did was segregate the information into headings within the content, I had no issue with the email being collated with the other content, for example;

    ID: Dynamic content

    Location: Dynamic content

    Description: Dynamic content

    Email: Dynamic content

    All of the Dynamic content is pulled from your form submittal.  This works for me as it worked in my favour to have the Requesters Email within the field, this will depend on your circumstance and if that is acceptably or not.
