Copying data from single text field to optionset field

Hi all,

I am trying to copy Address1: Country/Region data on a Contact summary tab to populate a (Custom) option set field which already has various countries as values. The custom field is hidden on the custom contact form. For instance: if Address1: Country/Region field is : Spain the flow checks the value in custom field to populate to Spain in the background. Can anyone share tips/guidance of a better way of achieving this with using flow as I seem stuck? See steps:

    Hi @007Sol

So what you are looking is read the current (Address1: Country/Region) value and append to another field which is an optionset field. What happens if the value is already there in optionset?

    Hi abm,

Good point. The value won't be already there as it is based on the value on (Address1: Country/Region) -also the field resides on a custom form.

Thanks for your quick reply. Is this a Global Option Set you trying to insert to?

    Hi @007Sol

If its a Global Option Set follow the below step:

Here my custom Global option set is called Gender and the schema name is ajb_gender.

If you want to find your schema name then use the below url in your browser and search for the option set name.

    Hi @abm

Where in the flow do I create 'Perform an unbound action'? I have over 250 options its not a Global optionset worryingly. Could maybe use of String Maps table with some fetch xml query work? Any ideas?

    Hi @007Sol

I assume if it was a global option set you could add the unbound action step after getting the 'Address1: Country/Region data' which you mentioned. Since its not a global option set you won't be able to use it. You may need to look the D365 API update for this. I haven't come across this scenario before. Also generally when I make an option set I try to make it Globally. Never know you may need it tomorrow where you could reuse it in another entity.

    Thanks
