Run Office Script: We were unable to run the script. Please try again.

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing inconsistent behavior when using the “Run Office Script” connector in Power Automate to refresh a pivot table that sources its data from Power BI. My flow sometimes fails with a 502 Bad Gateway error, while at other times, it runs successfully without any issues. Below is the code for my Office Script:

function main(workbook: ExcelScript.Workbook) {
    workbook.refreshAllDataConnections();
}

This flow is critical as it’s used to send daily reports, so stability is essential.

Has anyone encountered similar issues? What steps can I take to prevent these intermittent failures and ensure that the flow runs reliably every day?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi,

    In my experience what I have seen when this occurs is that it is not necessarily the Run Script action failure but rather one of the connections inside your workbook did not successfully connect or timed out and that's why you see inconsistency in the results.  If you see that a resubmit does in fact refresh on later attempts, a good workaround is to configure a run-after on error and resubmit.
