First Desktop Flow Fails to Initialize When Two PAD Runs Are Started From One Cloud Flow

Hi all,

I’m facing an issue with Power Automate Desktop when triggering two desktop flows from the same cloud flow.

✔ My setup:

  • Two different VMs
  • Two different Windows user accounts
  • Two different machine groups
  • Two different Power Automate Desktop connections
  • 5-minute delay added between the two desktop flow runs
  • Both machines show only one active RDP session (checked using query user)

❌ Problem:

When both desktop flows are triggered from the same cloud flow, the first desktop flow gets stuck during session initialization, but the second one runs successfully.

If I trigger the same two desktop flows from two separate cloud flows, they both work fine with no freezing.

❓ Question:

Why does the issue happen only when two desktop flows are triggered from the same cloud flow, even though the machines, user accounts, machine groups, and connections are fully separate?

Is there any known limitation or configuration requirement for running multiple unattended desktop flows from a single cloud flow?

Any guidance on what else I can verify in the VMs or connection setup would be helpful.

Thanks!

    Hi there!

I think I have seen this post or a similar one before.  I have never launched 2 concurrent desktop flows in a single cloud flows, they typically run sequentially.

I do think you could have 2 separate child flows that launch from the parent cloud flow, with each launching their respective desktop flows on machine groups.
