Problem import text files into excel and being able to select UTF8 Encoding

When I go to import a text file a dialog pops up to allow you to select the file origin (encoding). I am trying to import ETSY sales order data which requires UTF8 encoding to work properly. When the dialog pops up I am not able to get automate to get UI Automation on Window for selecting the file origin drop down list. I also try recoding the desktop recorder for that part and it cannot get a handle on UI automation either.

Any idea how to make this work?

Hello,

I got a same problem while trying to do your steps. It seems that PAD is having problem with selecting value from a dropdown list on a dialog. If I use a dropdown list that on the main window (not on a dialog), then it works just fine.

I think you can use another workaround solution that is by using Send Keys to the window. You can see the image gif that I attached in below. In this example, I added Wait actions just for viewing it easily, you don't need to use it in the real flow.

Thanks Mike, Sendkeys worked great except the TAB key did not work as intended; however instead of using the tab key I was able to select Press a button and get the data to import with the proper encoding.

Great to hear,

One of the experiences that I got with send Tab key is that, I have to add a wait action (1s) for each Tab to make it work. It is not a good choice because it will slow down our process. But I just want to give you a hint.
