We are currently moving our approval workflows from SharePoint designer to Power automate flows, some of them are already implemented and working fine, however we are limited in terms of "reassignment", which is an action an approver can perform but that we cannot perform in the name of an approver in case the approver is on vacation or on sick leave for instance.
I had a look at different tutorials, and it seems there are ways to manage this, but this requires a per user premium license, and it seems it is not the license we currently have.
Do we require a license to perform above action Or can leverage on to manage such reassignments in power automate without needing additional licenses?
To actually do a reassignment requires changes in the Dataverse database directly. That requires a premium license. But there are ways to do this without reassigning an existing approval. The pattern I've used is to check whether a the approvers Out of Office message is set in Exchange just before assigning the Approval to them. If it is then they are on vacation or sick leave. If that is the case then the approval is assigned to someone else. Its not technically a reassignment because its reassigned before being assigned to begin with. Out of Office is just one way to do it. But you'll need some mechanism to determine that people are on vacation or out sick. Doing it this way doesn't require a premium license.
One work around is to use the Office 365 Outlook Get Mail Tips action. This will allow you to check to see if someone has an out of office message. If they do, don't assign approvals to them. It's not a fail-safe method, but it will definitely help and no additional license is required.
