Seeking Guidance on Generating PDF Reports from REDCap Data and Images Using Power Automate

Posted on by 50

Hello everyone,

I'm currently working on a project that involves extracting both flat data and images from REDCap to generate a PDF report that will be emailed to recipients. My goal is to streamline this process using Power Automate while avoiding the complications associated with finicky triggers, especially those needed to integrate Power Automate with Fabric notebooks.

I've thought about using PyCap in a Fabric Notebook to pull the data from REDCap, but I'm unsure how to transfer that data and images over to Power Automate for emailing. Additionally, while I know there are ways in Python to create visually formatted PDFs, I'm not very experienced with that code and would prefer a solution more akin to paginated reports.

A specific challenge I'm facing is that some of the images I want to include in the PDFs are signatures, which will need to dynamically update based on the content of the report (different signatures for different files).

Overall, I understand there are various pathways to accomplish this, but I would appreciate everyone's insights on the options with the least potential issues.

Thank you in advance for your help!
