Combo box(es) not working in published version of my app

Hello all,

suddenly my drop-downs (all are combo boxes) stopped working in published version of my app. I mean  they're working, but only after user visiting the screen second time + next time. When user is going for a first time to "new item" screen, he or she is not able to choose any values, it seems like combo box is without any values - nothing happens while clicking on arrow. But after he/she's returns back to home screen and then back to new item screen, everything works as expected.

The strange thing is, that everything's o.k. in PowerApps studio - there's no error and when I hit the "play" button, combo's working as expected, even when visiting new item screen for a first time.

Some details:

- source is Sharepoint Online list, items simply pointed to "Choices(SH_ListName.Column_Name)

- this happened to me last Friday after saving and publishing new version (I just made one of my datacards required, but did noting with combo's)

- I see that after publishing new version I started to use newest version of PowerApps platform (changed from 3.20053.22 to 3.20054.14) - other dropdowns pointing to different SH lists still works well

What I tried so far, all without success:

- rollback to previous versions

- re-create one of my combo's

- refresh of all data sources

- switch off 'Explicit Column Selection' inside settings

For me it seems that something got broken between my App and source SharePoint list after publishing to newest version of PowerApps...

Can someone help me please or navigate me what to check and where?

Thanks,

Lubos

I don't know why this is happening but one reason it could happen is if your items for the combo box depend on the onVisible property of another screen.

This would mean that you would have to navigate to that screen first and then come back to the screen with combo box to see the items.

@Lubeno78  You should to see if that is the case?

I checked for changes in our documentation but it does not seem to be public facing at this time from looking at the below article.   If you think that the issue has to do with the new version release you may need to open a support ticket to understand the changes that have been made and to see if any of those changes have impacted the underlying functionality you are referencing.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/business-applications-release-notes/powerplatform/released-versions/powerapps-studio-players/3.20054

Also another way you can test is to restore the previous version of the app to see if that eradicates the problem.  If so this may be a bug that needs to be fixed.  If this is a helpful answer in resolving your issue please mark it as the suggested answer.

    HI @Anonymous,

    thanks for your reply.

My combo box items doesn't depend on "on visible" property of another screen, they're just simply pointing to my SP list choice field (like "choices(my_sp_list.my_choicecolumn)", with only 3 values).

...and - it's working in edit mode. Plus, it was working until now for few months. 😞

And I just realize another thing:

even it’s not possible to see any values of combo box, I still can search – and combo box delivers back the result(s). After I clear the result, suddenly I can see all values, without going back to home screen and then back to new item screen.

    HI @

as mentioned in my post here, I tried already restore previous versions but without success - behaviour is the same.

I found similar issue posted here:

    Hello there,

i´m expericencing same issues as @Lubeno78 . My apps work fine for more than year, but this week i can´t load content for dropdowns based on SH lists.

I just found that, if i open any record, all dropdowns suddenly start to work properly.

@mcin9781  is there any chance to fix this problem soon, if this issue is caused by new version?

    Petr

I´ve just switched back to version 3.20023.3 and issues with dropdowns based on SH list completely disappeared.

    So,

after post of Peter I tried once again to restore the previous version (now older version as I was trying restore for first time), but still no success 😞

Combo boxes are still without values.

How are you searching if there are no values? And what are you results? And how are you clearing them? I would like to understand more about your scenario here

    HI @Anonymous,

sorry for late answer, I've opened a ticket in MS and was solving this issue with them.

It was caused by bug, after upgrade to newest version 3.20061.23 everything works as before and as expected.

Back to your question: it was possible to search just with typing in the chars and results were listed below as usual. Also, the big "X" on the right side was there to clear the searching text. After click on that, all values were back.
