Hi All,

I have a SharePoint list, and I am using PowerAutomate to run workflows, I would like to update a "specific" field\column within the SharePoint list item, but when using the "Update Item" action, it overwrite the existing values on other columns in the list item....

attached screenshot is an example.

Question: is there any other way to update a specific field in a SharePoint list item? if yes, can you please provide some steps or a screenshots, thank you!!

    Hi

You can use the Send an HTTP Request to SharePoint action:

Here I am only updating the Title of an item.

    Hi @EdMoh,

By default, the Update item action will only overwrite the columns when you enter some value in the inputs. If you keep them empty, as you did in the shared image, those other columns should not be updated.

Are your columns being overwritten with nulls (empty values), or with a specific value?

Let me know if it works for you or if you need any additional help!

    Hi @chiaraalina

Thank you, I tried the steps mentioned but I am getting an error (screenshot attached),it says the column\field name does not exist...
I tried to create another column without "-" and it worked... also, I have other columns that contains "?" and ")" and the HTTP request is failing...

What am I missing in the code? the reason I need this to work because I have some other existing lists that I need to migrate from Nintex to PowerAutomate workflows... and I cannot change the column names since there are a lot.. and already configured in forms, etc..

    Hi

You need to use the Internal Field Name. You can find this at the end of the URL when viewing the column.

    To locate it:

    1. Go to Library Settings
    2. Click on the column in question
    3. Check the URL for its internal name

For example, Status-CL might be represented as Status_x002d_CL due to the hyphen being encoded.
