Building a flow to refresh a power bi dataset when files in two sharepoint Folders are created or modified

Hello,

I am trying to create a flow in which refresh the dataset in power when files are created or modified in two sharepoint folders.

the flow works fine when if the files are created in the sequence of the flow but it fails if the user submit a file into the second folder in trigger first or if the file in the first is not submitted.

How to set up the flow that triggers both folders independently and refresh the dataset.

below is the current flow

    Hey @Maikg ,

first I would suggest that you're not useing the "deprecated" triggers. It could happen that they won't work anymore.

Second, are the folders or items on the same sharepoint, same library, etc.?

Third, would you please give more details about your trigger, e.g. screen how you set it up.

    Thanks Smorph

    - folders are in the same SharePoint

    - the trigger is basically when a file is added or modified in the SharePoint folders then refresh the dataset.

the files in the SharePoint folders are submitted each Thursday but no at the same time.

I am basically calling the Site address and the folder ID/name on each trigger

    Hey @Maikg ,

    thanks for getting back.

What I assume is that you try to use two triggers on one flow which doesn't work. Only one trigger for one flow.
That's why I asked where the folders are located.

That will be the issue why the flow works only for one folder but not the other or for the second one only if in the first folder was something changed as well.

In my opinion you have three options now:

    1. You create two flows which independently operate from each other.
But here I'm not aware how the dataset refresh will be handled if both flows try to refresh at the same time.

    2. You relocate your folders into one main folder and you keep the trigger checking the main folder.
That means everyone need to know where the files have to be saved from now on.

To be honest haven't checked that if will work with subfolders

    3. You create a flow which based on recurrance and refresh on that way the dataset, so you don't have the "live" refresh but would not run in any issues. I suggest to run the refresh in nighttime.

This would mean it's not dependet on any updated file, it will run everytime on your reccurance.

If you would share details via screen on you first and second trigger would be nice to be able to look a bit deeper.
