Wait for File Hanging

Hello,

The base function of the sub-flow is to log into a website and download an excel file to work later in the desktop flow.

The function seems to hang when run by a shared coworker's desktop. As though it was waiting forever.
Even when we physically confirm that the file was placed in the appropriate shared folder.

Removing the Wait, to just launch excel with the file directly after, seemed to have the same expected outcome that the file did not exist.   I am at a complete loss as to why. Do you think we should reinstall power automate desktop and try again? Is there a permission maybe that is blocking it?
Running a flow that is simple as Launch the file after it is downloaded seems to work fine.

I have the same question (0)

Put on a fail on timeout, give it twice as long as you think it should take for the file to download and then in the on error section, just tell it to continue flow next action. This way, it will move on if “wait for file” is successful, and if it’s not, it will move on after an appropriate amount of time has passed.

    @lightarchon

Can you check it via the PAD editor.

Does the running status keep ticking or is it stuck at one place as if it is really in a "hang" state.

What does the "If file exists" action return?

If it working fine then maybe you can create your own loop to keep checking using the "If file exists" action for a certain amount of time or iterations.

    Hi VJR,
It will keep ticking. I will try that and see if there is any change.

    Hi VJR,
    Would this be acceptable?

This way would keep looping every 10 seconds and hopefully refresh the instance of the file existing?

If the DownloadedFileExists never becomes True then chances are that it might go in an infinite loop unless you have added a condition that I cannot see from the screenshots. So add a condition to do a Retry Attempt for X number of times. X is configurable. Could be say 3 times.

What you are trying using "Wait for file" is one of the options, but if that doesn't work then an option I am trying to suggest is to use another action called "If file Exists".

You can adjust the RetryAttempts and the Wait time as per your requirements.
