Getting answers from a Share point list

Hi there,

Very new to PA. And I have this silly question:

I have a share point list where I have several columns for instance:

ID   |  Category     |   Subcategory    |   Explanation

If I have an end user in teams trying to get answers for a question and the answer could be in any of those columns, will be this possible?

i.e. the user ask for a text :  Building

And in the column "Explanation" I have a record like this:

building, or edifice, is an enclosed structure with a roof and[1] walls standing more or less permanently in one place, such as a house or factory (although there's also portable buildings).[1] Buildings come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and functions, and have been adapted throughout history for a wide number of factors, from building materials available, to weather conditions, land prices, ground conditions, specific uses, prestige, and aesthetic reasons. To better understand the term building compare the list of nonbuilding structures.

Can this paragraph be retrieved?

If so, could someone please point me in the right direction

Regards

Thank you very much for your help. That is pretty much what I was looking for. I guess is not easy to implement but I will give a try.

Now here is the sad part. PREMIUM!!

I guess this is the part where you have to abandon most of the projects.

Anyway. thank you very much for your help.

    Regards

I see - for this, I would probably do this:

    1. Customize the "Fallback" topic in PVA to basically "catch" any request.
    2. Add your SharePoint data sources to Question Answering in Azure Cognitives Services, and call it with a Power Automate cloud flow, from your Fallback topic.
See example here: How to connect a Custom Question Answering (CQA) to Power Virtual Agents - YouTube

I tried adding SharePoint content to my instance of Question Answering but got errors right now. Trying to look into this. This used to work in the legacy "QnA Maker" (SharePoint files - QnA Maker - Azure Cognitive Services | Microsoft Learn).

    Correct Sir.

Because it's a huge document with many topics could be a really pain to do a bot for every single question.

But you got it right. Thx

I see, so the user would ask generic questions that don't necessarily trigger ad-hoc topics in PVA, but the expectation is that the bot would formulate a response based on information retrieved from structured and unstructured data sources (SharePoint List and SharePoint documents in your examples).

    Is that correct?

Re: Getting answers from a Share point list

Hi, thank you very much for you prompt response.

Let's say I have a big word document and the user ask for the word "Building"

Is the ChatBot capable of return something like this:

Is more like general questions form the user. Not a prepopulated options set because in the explanation column could be many many possible things for the user to ask for.

    Make sense?

    Hi @sajarac,

Can you share more on the conversation flow?

How is the user selecting or asking about "building"?

Once PVA knows that the user is asking about "Building", it can trigger a cloud flow in Power Automate to retrieve the "Explanation" column content that corresponds to the Building "Category" column.
