Exchange on-Premise

Hello everyone,

I have a customer who is using Dynamics Sales along with an on-premise Exchange server (Exchange 2019 CU14).

For regular email synchronization, we have set up a server profile, and everything is working fine.

However, the customer now wants to create a Power Automate flow where an email is sent when a record in Dynamics Sales is modified.

I am unsure whether this is possible and, if so, which connector should be used to achieve this functionality. (It is not about the Dynamics trigger.)

I would appreciate any guidance on this.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Benjamin

Yes, this is possible! Since your customer is using Exchange 2019 CU14 on-premise, you’ll need to use the Exchange Server connector in Power Automate to send emails when a record in Dynamics Sales is modified.

Steps to Set Up the Flow:
Trigger: Use the Dataverse connector with the trigger "When a row is modified" (for Dynamics Sales records).

Retrieve Email Details: If needed, use the Get row by ID action to fetch additional details about the modified record.

Send Email via Exchange Server: Use the Exchange Server connector to send an email. You’ll need to:
Establish a connection to the Exchange server.

    Provide the recipient email address.
Format the email body with dynamic content from the modified record.

    Key Considerations:
Ensure the Exchange Server connection is properly configured with the correct credentials.
If the Exchange Server connector doesn’t work as expected, consider using SMTP as an alternative.
If your customer has hybrid Exchange (on-prem + cloud), Office 365 Outlook connector might be an option.

You can find more details on the Exchange Server actions in Power Automate

Hey Robu, thanks for the reply.
I don't quite understand how, though, because according to the internet, the on-premises version 2019 no longer supports SMTP. And an Exchange Server connection isn't working properly, or how do I fix this?
    Best regards and thanks
