Error when using variable as Assigned to approval

Hello,

I'm encountering an error when using a sting variable as the recipient of an approval. Basically I have a SharePoint list item update trigger, my flow builds the variable from another list (removing duplicates), then inputs the list variable in for the approvers. I get this error: "The request failed. Error code: 'MultipleErrorsOccurred'. Error Message: 'Multiple errors occurred: 'BadRequest,BadRequest'. Please see details.'."

We've done this the exact same way in other flows without issue, and I've recreated this from scratch only to get the same error. Our Sr folks are still working on it but I'm looking for some fresh ideas.

Thanks,

Chris

When you go to add the user list using a variable take a look above and to the right of the input field.  you'll see a double headed arrow.  By default the approvers field is a people picker set to find internal users.  If left this way it won't accept a variable string.  But if you click the control you'll be able to use your semicolon delimited string variable.

I switched it to Advanced mode, and still got the same error. I even deleted the approval, started from scratch, enabled advanced mode before adding the variable. Still got the same error...

Adding screenshot of the approval in advanced mode for reference.

All I can suggest is double checking that the email addresses are valid.  I just ran a test using the exact same steps and it works for me.

My flow brings in three email addresses, when copied directly into a new mail in Outlook they all recognize and resolve instantly. Man, this is going to bug the hell out of me. There's really no reason this shouldn't be working.

I figured it out. The error reporting wasn't giving me any information when multiple people were in the compose, but as I narrowed it down I found the users are found by email address more than once. It happened individually with all three users, so the error back was simply multiple errors found. If you put one in there it says specifically multiple users found for this email address. Issue with our user provisioning.

Helo! How is this problem solved? My flow has always worked and this week this problem started to appear with emails.
Is the problem in my company's database??

I'm running into what appears to be the same issue as you but I'm not really following your comment above.

Would you mind expanding on it? 🙂

I have another flow with an approval where I'm doing the same thing (with a different data source) and it's working fine.  I tested the string that's being passed into the Assigned To field and it checks out.
