Converting string to int

i have 4 digit string and i am trying to convert it to integer. 
it converts but strips the integer from 4 digit to 1. 
lets say by string is 0001 then it converts to 1 instead of 0001. 
is there a way we can make it 4 digit conversion.

    formatNumber(outputs('increment_the_number_by_1'),'0000')
