Business Process Flow not updating after solution import

Hi there,

I have an issue with my business process flow, somehow when I update my business process flow and export my solution as a managed solution and import it in my production environment it doesn't update the business process flow.

Field renames are not occuring nor are fields being added or removed, any ideas why it is no longer updating my business process flow?

Thanks in Advance,

Billy Cottrell

Try deleting the existing managed solution and try to import the solution again.

    Hi @Mira_Ghaly,

Okay but if I would remove the existing solution, won't this remove all existing data as well?

The reason I am asking is because this solution contains my whole CRM so it has around 20 different entities and processes inside it together with my bpf.

    Thanks in Advance,

So you are deploying all of your entities and bpf in one Managed solution, yes it can delete data if the fields are custom.

So alternatively try deleting the business process from Managed Solution.

    Hi @Mira_Ghaly,

Well problem is that I can't seem te delete it from the managed solution, as I can't click the button because its greyed out.

Mainly the problem is that I have 2 processes that use this bpf and one of my entities. Which is the reason why I placed them all inside my solution. Would it be possible to move my bpf to a separate solution even though it is depending on these other parts? And then import my main solution that does not contain this bpf?

    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi @Mira_Ghaly,

Usually when I import my solution I always keep the settings as following:

and I never had any issues.

Or is this what is causing the issue with the BPF?

    Kind regards,

    @Billy_C

Remove the BPF from your solution on your sandbox

Then import and select stage for upgrade and this will create another version of your solution with the name _upgrade.

    Then upgrade your solution.

Now go back and re-add the BPF and import the solution.

Have a read of the below article:

    https://www.itaintboring.com/dynamics-crm/why-would-you-use-stage-for-upgrade-with-managed-solutions/

I also suggest to keep ur bpf and other processes that you might be changing frequently to a separate solution than where you keep your entities. So u can delete and import again easily or use unmanaged solutions

Also check solution layers to see what is the active layer on ur BFP

    Hi @Mira_Ghaly,

So I have separated the processes and placed them inside a different solution. Now after fiddling around, I managed to get it work, but now all my projects have no longer a process meaning that all these projects have been reset to the start of the project is there no way to update this easier without having to restart these processes every time I update it?

    Thanks in Advance,

@Mira_Ghaly  Is there an option to change directly into an existing BPF? For companies that aren't using different environments... I just changed the name of some fields and it's not updating.
