Unable to read Excel files in sharepoint from Chatbot

HI Team,

We have created a Custom chatbot using COPILOT Studio and it is working fine. The bot is pointing to the Sharepoint folder and public website to get the answers which are posted to BOT. For this we are using the option Generative answers.

But, it seems the bot is not accessing the excel files from sharepoint folder to get the answers. Where as it is reading the excel files to get the answers which are attached directly to the BOT using knowledge option.

Is copilot studio bot is not supporting the Excel files which are stored in sharepoint or do we have any specific steps to follow?

Appreciate your help on this.

You can use for example a Power Automate cloud flow and the list rows present in table action to interact with Excel data.

In this case how to proceed further to access excel files which are stored in SharePoint from Copilot studio.

As far as I am aware Excel files are not one of the supported content types in Generative answers feature.

Generative answers obtain content stored in these formats:

SharePoint pages (modern pages)

Word documents (docx)

PowerPoint documents (pptx)

PDF documents (pdf)
