Adding a pop up notification/screen using components

Hi 

I have a navigation bar created in the component area. I have used that component in 1 of my screen. That navigation bar has a add(+)icon screen.  I would like to create a pop up type of screen when the user clicks the + icon from the nav bar. How can I do that?
