Approval flow changing time out setting

(0) ShareShare

Working from make.powerapps.com in a solution I made a approval flow. Testing with a time-out setting of 10" (PT10S) all worked fine.
After changing the time out setting to P3D or PT72H the value changed, was saved but the flow keeps using the 10" value.

I opened the flow in make.powerautomate.com to have the new designer and published the flow but still no succes.
Even Making a copy of the flow and creating a new connection does not did the trick.

Someone any other ideas?

Is the flow in a solution?  If it is, did you Publish Customizations after making the change?

Can you post a screenshot of the Settings tab showing the current value of the Timeout?

Thank You for your quick reply @Pstork1.
    • Yes as mentioned I do work with solutions.
    • As I normally work from make.powerapps.com the default view is the classic floweditor and the publish button is not available.
    • I opened the flow in make.powerautomate.com and saved, edited, deleted, reedited and published the flow several times but no succes in the runtime of the flow. the settings are still correct but they seem not published in the cloud environment.
    • Adding a new approval action the settings seem to work and I think this will be the way to go. Not amused because I need to check several steps where I am reusing data from the approval.
    • There is a possibility of a second approval in the flow, both settings are set equal
    • I tried next values: P3D and PT72H
    • It seems that the save button in the classic editor is also a publish action. Not sure but It seems like that.

@Vitss The Publish all customizations button I'm talking about is in the Solution, not in the designer.  Its normally used just before you Export the solution.  But It can be a good practice to use it when something unexpected like this happens.

@Pstork1, excuse me for overseeing the 'Publish all customizations' button.
Unfortunately this was not the solution.

Not sure what is going on. I just tried to replicate the problem and I wasn't able to.  Mine changes whenever I change and save the change.

The only other thing I can think of is that you are using a previous run when testing instead of Manual. That can cache some information from the previous run that is hard to overwrite.

    Thank you for the effort.
I will re-add a new approval action, or rebuild the entire flow.
I also have no clue of what is happening.
the flow must get corrupt somewhere.

It could be a browser cache issue. Clear your browser cache and history and then try to update the flow again. Clear all time for best results.

Clearing Cashe was also not the solution, thank for the advice anyway.

I think I have found an issue that can be responsible.
In the flow I use the 'Create an approval' and a 'Wait for an approval' action.
The mentioned Time out setting was placed on the create action but for this action I did not had a run after action.

Changing this in a copy of the flow seemed to change the logic although it worked perfectly for test purposes with a PT10S value.

Changing that to  next logic seems to work as requested.
I think I will delete the time-out setting in the create action and keep the time-out for the waiting for action.

@Vitss Using a Create with a separate Wait would change the Timeout for the overall approval.  The timeout should go on the Wait action, not the Create.  The Create would rarely timeout. Its when waiting for the reply that you want the Timeout. So yes, I think that is the answer.
