Adding User to Distro Groups

Hello,

I have created a flow which we will be using to add a newly created user to all the same 365 groups as an already active employee.
Now this flow works for most of the groups, however i am getting a error when it comes to adding the user to a distribution group.
I understand this to be something that isnt possible via the HTTP calls iv made to add the user to the other groups.
Is there a way to catch the M365 groups this errors on (Which are only these distro groups) and then add the new user to them?
Any help would be massively appreciatted!

We'll need a bit more information to be able to help. Can you pose a screenshot if your flow with all of the actions expanded, along with any error messages that show up on the attempt to add the user to a DL?

It looks like DLs can't be queried or updated via Power Automate, so you'll need to use a workaround using a custom connector and an account with admin privileges: https://www.bythedevs.com/post/working-with-o365-groups-dl-s-and-security-groups-in-power-automate

I recommend using a Distribution Group or Mail Enabled Security Group instead, so you can use Power Automate's built in connectors to work with them.

The test actually says successful, however the user still doesnt get added to the distribution group.

Your screenshot says the user account trying to call the API doesn't have the right permissions. Does that account have domain permissions to create and edit Distribution Groups?

Hello,

It does have all the correct permissions, which is what i find strange.
I have tried using powershell and also tried multiple different ways within the flow but the same issue pops up everytime.

Please verify the account making the API call has the following permissions in Entra ID/ Azure AD:

Group.ReadWrite.All: Allows the signed-in user to create, read, update, and delete groups.
Directory.ReadWrite.All: Required if you're modifying directory-level properties or managing group membership.

The account must also be assigned a role such as Groups Administrator, User Administrator, or Directory Writers in Entra ID/Azure AD

Hello,

Can verify iv checked all those things and they are all set correctly.
Iv read in some places online that Power Automate Flows cant add new users to distribution groups which is why i have tried to catch the groups that fail to add the new user and then add them via a powershell script, again within the flow.
The script says it runs successfully but still fails to add the user to the distribution group.
