Hi everyone,
So I have a flow that previously worked correctly, but here lately it has not been working as intended.
The update item is usually only updating a couple of fields each time, as most of them are completed by the user.
The problem that has started to arise lately is that the Update Item isn't just skipping fields that are empty, it is instead clearing out all values for that field so the Sharepoint list item no longer holds a value there.
Has anyone had this problem lately? It seems like maybe its a bug or something, since it used to work as intended.
@ScottShearer I do have a good bit of choice fields in this list/Powerapp, but surprisingly these haven't been an issue. I haven't updated the defaults on these in a while either.
@v-yamao-msft The values that are clearing out are text fields (single line and multiline).
The only possible scenario I can think of, since they're all text fields, is that Flow was perceiving the blank fields inside 'Update Item' as an actual space and inserting this into the text field when updating. I'm not sure why it would do this though, and I did click into the field and try to delete anything that could have possible been there.
I have many other sites/lists that use 'Update Item' and they work as intended, so this one definitely baffles me! For the time being, I just went ahead and filled out every single column on the 'Update Item' so it knows exactly what to put, and it's working for the time being.
Hi @Anonymous ,
You mentioned that “it is instead clearing out all values for that field”, could you share more details on this field? What’s the column type?
According to your description, I have just made a simple flow for testing likes below. I am going to update the Body field. However, all the existing value in other fields won’t be cleared when update the Body field.
Best regards,
Mabel

It looks like you have quite a few choice and/or lookup columns in your list. Did you recently set default values for the choice/lookup column?
