Action on MS Form submit -- approve by users manager

Hello everyone,

notes:

- ccc_admin account is where this form and PA are located, but the form is for org wide use

- form is a simple courier request approval form - copied from one of the pre-existing approval samples.

- all the users contact information and "manager" items are filled in...

- hybrid AD on prem and 365

the form and PA "seem" to be working. the form gets the info... then i have added a "get manager v2" step after the "get response details" object, to grab the person submitting the forms manager email address, that i use as the email address to send the approval to.. when i run it, it works as i added the manager for "ccc_admin" as my AD account "peter", so I get the request and no issues arise -- seems to work.

So it seems all the requests are coming from "ccc_admin" regardless of any email i use for some reason.

then i logged in with my account "peter" and ran the form, so the request should go to my boss "lisa" but the request goes to "peter" from "ccc_admin" -- even though i'm logged into my 365 account. I'm under the assumption that "responders email" is the person submitting the form IE- peter@,  not the owner of the form ccc_admin@ -- it seems all the responses are from "ccc_admin"

then I even tried to add a field on the form and i manually entered various email addresses, the "get manager" widget returned the managers info, but not the email address.

The Assigned To" field, i entered the "Mail" object from the get manager availible fields.

Message at "start in approval":

BadRequest. The request failed. Error code: 'InvalidApprovalCreateRequestAssignedToMissing'. Error Message: 'Required field 'assignedTo' is missing or empty.'.

in the run details results:

in the Get manager object, i see the inputs as "peter@" email address, and the outputs only showing the Job Title, even though i entered: DisplayName, jobTitle, Department in the select fields.

not sure if we need to use a different license in order to achieve this ?

any insight appreciated,

Thanks,

Peter

    @ccc_admin

    Can you verify that everyone's manager has been defined in M365?  If a manager hasn't been entered for a person, the Flow will fail.

    Hi Scott,

    thanks for you assistance. yes, it appears to be setup.

    I've attached screen shots, you see from the AD record i have  lisa assigned as my manager, and i've added my test accounts to my peter account... which the"ccc_admin" seems to work.

    One of the images is from 365 of my account showing Lisa as my manager, and the other is of the AD record.

    i also ran the test with user testuser1 i am the manager.. the third image you can see the failure... it returned my dept and title..

    please note, that all the "connections" are using the "ccc_admin" account, not sure if that has any bearing..

    Thanks for you time,

    Peter

    @ccc_admin

    Sorry to say, I am out of ideas.  There is nothing wrong with your Flow.

    No worries, I'll contact MS, if I don't figure it out.

    contacted MS about this, after they went away to investigate for a bit, he came back and said that his tests were working. he sent a screen shot of the output if his tests...

    looking at his parameters, i noticed that i entered "Mail", he had "mail". I changed my variable to "mail" and lone and behold it started to work.

    not sure if was the case... but..

    Thanks,

    Peter
