Power automate question

Hi - I train teachers for a non-profit and I've been trying to automate a process where they can get certificates for my trainings.  The idea is that they fill out a form and then the automation fills out a certificate and emails it to them.  I was able to get the automation to work in that it emailed me a certificate when I tested it.  Which was great as it's my first automation.  However, I can't seem to get it to fill in the name on the certificate.  It just sends the certificate template.  Just to be clear, the only thing it needs to fill in is the responders name, everything else is prefilled.  If anyone can help I'd appreciate it!

    Hey,

Sounds like you are almost there!

What format is your certificate in (word / pdf ?) and what connecter are you using in your flow to create the file.

A screenshot of your existing flow may help.

    Thanks,

Thanks so much for replying.  I'm using a word doc for the certificate.  I've uploaded a screenshot of the flow.  I appreciate any help you can give.

    Hey,

On your word document template, have you added a Plain Text Content Control where the name should be?

Steps to do this if you need them:
      1. Open your certificate in Word (desktop).

      2. Show the Developer tab:
        • File → Options → Customize Ribbon → check Developer.

        •

      3. On the Developer tab, click Plain Text Content Control to insert a control where the name goes.

      4. With that control selected, click Properties, set the Title (and Tag) to exactly ResponderName, then click OK.

      5. Save this template back to your OneDrive folder (e.g. /Templates/Certificate.docx).

      6.

Then back to your Power Automate Cloud Flow, you should see an advanced option appear on the Populate Microsoft Word action -

I called my Plain Text content control 'ResonderName;, and as you can see the ResponderName is now showing. I set this to dynamics content 'Name' field generated from the MS Form.

I hope this helps! If not, take some screenshots of the populate a Microsoft word template action please.
