Combining two flows - Creating items in secondary list and updating items in secondary list

Hi all,

I would be very grateful for some advice and support with this.

Flow 1 -

I have a Primary list which has a flow where once a yes/no field is changed to yes, the item is then created in a secondary list.  This stand alone flow works as intended.

Flow 2 -

I have a Primary list which has a flow where once a field is changed, the change is updated in the secondary list.  This stand alone flow works as intended.

Problem -

Both of the flows work as intend, but when both flows are turned on and running, whenever an item in the primary list is changed, it creates a new item in the secondary list.

How do I combine both of these flows into one, to stop this from happening?  The list will only need to have changes updated on two fields in the primary list if that help; were at present it looks for changes in all fields. I am new to Power Automate and will need a step by step approach to help me understand what is needed and develop my learning.

I hope someone can help?

Thanks,

Chris.

You would need to show your flow, as I am not sure what you are doing when you say "Select 'Transfer'".

    Hi @David_MA ,

Please disregard my last post, turns out my poor internet connection was at fault.

    thanks,

    Chris.

    Hi @David_MA ,

    Can you help?

Thank you for the help with my previous request, which has worked very well on my bench test setup (SP list and flows).  I have created the flow for my live data but it doesn't work the same?

On the test data when I edit multiple items and select 'Transfer' to create a copy in a secondary list it works and updates the 'Copied Item' field.  But on the live data it will only copy over one of the items and not multiple?

I am not sure why this is happening, any advice would be great received.

    Thanks,

    Chris.

    Hi @David_MA ,

Thank you.  Wow, such as simple extra condition that has worked.  This is where I now need to start thinking out of the box on this sort of problem rather than thinking its my programming that is at fault.

    Thanks,

    Chris.

I think to achieve what you want, you will need to keep your two flows. However, I would add a yes/no field to your primary list named "Item Copied" with a default of No. In Flow 1 add to your condition so that it only runs when "Item Copied" eq no and your other field is yes. Then at the end of flow 1 update "Item Copied" to Yes. This should prevent duplicates from being created in List 2.
