Power BI Dataset Refresh Indicator in Microsoft Flow

HI Guys,

Could anyone help me on below concern.

Scenario :

1. Power BI Dataset Refresh as soon as file available in Source.

2. Once Dataset refresh completed, successful Dataset Refresh Email Notification to the end user.

Problem:

Microsoft Flow invoked the step of Power BI Refresh  (has nothing to do with completion of Dataset refresh in actual) and moved ahead to Email Send step.

As a result, successful Dataset Refresh Email Notification sent to End User however in actual Dataset still in refresh state which causes confusion.

Help

Is there anyway in Power Flow so that i can send successful Dataset Refresh Email Notification only when Dataset refresh completed in actual.

Thanks

Amit Srivastava

    Hi @amsrivas

Let's try this. There's a trigger for PowerBI called "When a data-driven alert is triggered." You can create an event in PowerBI that triggers when the data is updated and have a Power Automate that catches it and sends the email.

So you need 2 Power Automates:

    1. The one you have

    2. Another one to catch the event

I'm not a PowerBI expert, so I can't advise you how to create these events, but I found some articles that can help you:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/service-set-data-alerts

Can you please try it out and see if it works?

    HI @amsrivas

That's what I was trying to say. You can't. There's no way to do that..

Have you tried the workaround that I proposed?
