Generate Word Documents Froms SharePoint Lists

Hey, I've created a flow that transfer list items into a word documents.  I was able to transfer single line text but I couldn't transfer multi options! What do you think is the issue?

Here is the flow I'm using and it's transferring (Project Name, Reference No., and dept) because they are a text not options.

And here the list items after filling the list form.

And here is the word file after updating. It catches only the text inputs.

Please let me know if you have been in this situation.

    Hi @Jay-Encodian,

My post was marked as a Spam. I guess because of the run history.

So I updated the post. Please let me know.

    Hi @Anonymous

The reason the fields aren't appearing in Word will be down the column type... can you confirm which type of column the fields are that you cannot see? (Managed Metadata, choice, etc.)

I can't give you the explicit method for adding the data to the 'Populate a Word template' action (assuming that is what you're using) without knowing the column type.... but if you want to see all of the data from the SharePoint action do this:

    1. In the expression field type: string()

    1.png

     2. Click 'Dynamic Data'

    2.png

You should now see all of the SharePoint fields...

    HTH

    Hi @Jay-Encodian ,

I'm using Update file properties, not populate a word template as you see below:

    image.png

Regarding the reason, here is where they got added into the document:

    ok @Anonymous

Re-looking at your flow... you're not using the 'Populate a word template; your updating the metadata of the document library and using quick parts to display the data...

Quick parts don't support all of the column types... so what you may need to do is change the column which you want to map to a quick part to a text column... then in your 'Update File Properties' you'll need to make sure the data is formatted as a string using the 'string()' expression before adding.

    Hi@Jay-Encodian,

If I change the column type in library, I should also change it in the site and the content type too. And this would kill the idea of the multi options. I hope there is a way that helps with using multiple choices instead of only Text.

    Hi @Anonymous

I don't think you need to do that... the issue is mapping the data.

So lets say you have a multi choice column called 'Countries'... add another column called 'Countries - Text' which is a text value.

In your 'Flow' get the data from choice column, loop through the entries to create a string containing the entries and the write that into the 'Countries - Text' column which is then mapped to the documents quick part.

Here is a quick example of how to get the data from a choice column and map to a comma delimited list:

    1.png

    This will produce:

    1.png

    From:

    2.png

Obviously you'll write the data into the SharePoint list column where I sent it in an email.

    Your solution is working @Jay-Encodian,
