Hi
I am a novice so I hope I explain this well.
We are a veterinary group that has recently moved over to Microsoft 365. One of the things we have created is a SharePoint intranet homepage which we link to important information etc. We also have an excel file that we use to calculate our hospital occupancy score. I would like to link the excel file to the homepage but just sharing it as a file is not working (it doesn't update automatically, clicking opens the excel etc.).
What I was hoping the flow could do is every time a change is made to the score cell in the excel file it updates a section of the homepage. Is this possible? How would you go about this? I just want it to show a number with the corresponding colour in the background
Thanks
Sarah
Thanks @Expiscornovus - absolutely your first solution does work but the webpart does also allow people to click onto/into the excel which I also don't want.
Just want the number to flash up on the homepage communications site we have! Thank you for all of your help!
Hi @Anonymous,
Ok, thanks for your feedback. I will have a look at a flow solution approach instead.
Thank you very much for your message.
I am currently using this feature and I find it doesn't really update very well. Plus I find that the black bar at the bottom of the webpart is offputting. That is why I was hoping to show it almost like a button (if that makes sense). Worst case this is still sort of fit for purpose!
Many thanks
Sarah
Hi @Anonymous,
Have you tried using a file viewer web part in your SharePoint homepage. Nowadays that web part is pretty flexible. You can even configure the range of data what you want to show.
With this approach you can apply conditional formatting within the Excel and it will always show your latest updates. And there is no need to create a separate flow for this requirement.
Below is an example of such a configuration
Let me know if this is meeting your requirements.
