Hello, I wanted to confirm whether as of Excel 365 v2302 (Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel), it was still necessary to use the "Microsoft Flow for Excel" add-in if you want to use the "For a selected Row" trigger for Power Automate.
The below article suggests that would be the case, but it's archived and hasn't been updated since 2021 and I can't find any more recent reference materials:
Build and run flows from Excel - Release Notes | Microsoft Learn
I thought maybe in this newer version I might be able to trigger it from the Automate tab but my flow using the "For a selected row" trigger does not seem to appear in the sidebar that pops-out upon clicking the "Automate a Task" on Desktop (nor the "Automate Work" in the browser version of Excel).
Thanks.
Hi @trice602,
I needed to send out 33 emails with personalized attachment (1 per email) and addressing the recipient by first name. So by setting up the flow "for a selected row" (excel online for business), I managed to see the succeeded run history (33 counts). However, only 17 showed up successfully in my Sent Items. Did it mean the remaining 16 recipients successfully get the email, just not showing up in my Sent folder or I had to resend to those not recorded properly in the Sent folder? Look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks!
Understood. If you have some automation built that does something with the row contents (such as email someone this data, initial an RPA, etc, etc), you can use the "for the selected row" automation as the trigger. Always glad to help! Tom
I don't think you understand the question I'm asking. I'm looking to know what the currently recommended method of using this trigger from Excel is... there isn't a need for an example flow.
Sorry, do you want an example at https://make.Powerautomate.com ?
This doesn't really say anything about how to actually trigger the automation...
Hi @AaronHL ,
I see it as a trigger. Here's the link to the reference page. Please mark as a solution and give me a thumbs up if this was helpful! Always glad to help! Tom
