Using a Teams Message to Send a Email

Hey all,

I'm trying to leverage Teams and Flow to automatically send emails to our ticketing system when someone posts a message to a designated Channel.

So far everything has worked as intended, except one part. I'd like to use the email address of the person posting the message to be in the From field of the email.

I've tested using the Teams Dynamic Content, but none seem to work as it's not formatted as string/email:

Would anyone know how to go about doing this?

    Hello @Anonymous

You can use the "Get user profile (V2)" action to get the email of the user that posted the message in Teams:

As you can see, I'm using the action "send an email from a shared mailbox (v2)", since it's the only way to send an email in name of somebody else. You will need permissions to access the user mailbox, because if you haven't, you won't be allowed to send the email.

Just remember that the flow is executed using your account and context information.

    Hope it helps!

The output of the "Get user profile" action will give you the email address (and much more besides)

The issue is the flow creator\owner must be able to send emails on behalf of the MS Team message sender. (Send on behalf the "Mail")
