Purchased a license, showing 0 MB capacity still....

Good morning all,
I'm at my wits end here.  Chances are I've probably done something stupid or don't understand something.  I have been slowly learning the power platform over the last 5 months and I've decided to get a Power Apps per-user license and set up Dataverse.  I've followed a few tutorials online - but none of them ever seem to discuss any potential issues like mine.

When I log into the Power Platform admin, I have two environments - default and a developer environment that has never been use but I must have previously set up at some point.

The issue is that I cannot create any new environments and when I check capacity it says I have 0 of 0MB used and 100% available.

I am a global admin; but that doesn't mean there isn't something set somewhere still preventing this.

I've checked licensing, turned all of the power apps and CDS licensing off and back on...not sure what else to try?  Any ideas?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi

Please could you double check if the licence has been assigned to you in 'Microsoft 365 Admin Centre'. If yes, have you tried to unassign and then reassign the licence to yourself?

    Kind regards

    Gulshan

    HI @jseklund,

Every tenant has a Default environment that gets created by default. It doesn't get provisioned with a Dataverse environment though unless someone manually installed it. A Dataverse instance in the Default environment would consume storage whereas a Dataverse instance in a Developer environment does not. Since you're Global Admin you would see all environments in the tenant so that Developer environment could have been created by someone else. More info on environment types: https://learn.microsoft.com/power-platform/admin/environments-overview#types-of-environments

To go to your question, Global Admins, Power Platform Admins and D365 Admins are the ones who can create new environments within the tenants but that depends if you have enough capacity/storage. A "Power Apps per User plan" comes with 250MB storage but a vanilla Dataverse environment takes up about 1GB of space so you'll need to buy more storage license and/or get more user licenses. If you're still playing around with Power Apps and not building production apps yet, you can keep using a Developer environment which is free.

    Hope this helps a little!

Thank you for the response Gulshan.

I did assign the license to myself; I also tried un-assigning it and re-assigning it.  I removed my access to anything Power Platform or CDS related and re-applied access...none of it seemed to have worked.

However, this afternoon I received an invoice for my purchase of the license on Friday and suddenly I had capacity.  I guess I just needed to be more patient...??  Not sure if this is typical but it seems to be working now.

Thank you for taking the time to help.

    Eric,

Thank you for taking the time to help.  As stated above, this seems to have magically cleared up.  Tech is great, isn't it?

The first per user plan comes with 10GB of storage and each addition plan adds 250MB I believe....but I have my 10GB now.

I have a lot to learn, thank you for the helpful info.

I'm glad it all got resolved eventually. These things do take time to take effect.

    Kind regards

@jseklund, yes that's what I thought but forgot! It also didn't mention it on the licensing page.... Happy it all worked on now. Enjoy!
