Get Attachments & Create File - Opening Word file has invalid or missing required properties

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I've created a flow to Get Attachments from a list item in my SharePoint site and to recreate it in a library with the ID and Attachment Content. This works fine and the file will open in the browser without any issues, but when I open the file in Word I receive "REQUIRED PROPERTIES: To save to the server, correct the invalid or missing required properties".

There are no required properties in either my list or library and columns 'Title' and 'Name' are filled with values, so I'm not sure what is causing this error.

Note: Dragging and dropping a file into my library does not cause this issue.

    Hi!
Not sure if this thread can point you to the right direction
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/troubleshoot/lists-and-libraries/upload-file-using-new-experience

I guess the destination library has custom metadata columms, and at least one of them is marked as mandatory. If my assumption is correct, you should use 'Update file properties' action block in your flow to fill the mandatory column on every file you create
    Hope this helps

    Hi @Anonymous ,

I have made a test on my side with the same flow in the new sharepoint online version and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

It seems that the link provided by @efialttes  explain the problem for the new sharepoint online version , as @efialttes  said, could you please check from your sharepoint library to see if there is any column require a value in it?

Please make sure the files could be opened before you uplode the files to the list item.

    Best regards,

    Alice
