Validate Selector

Hello,

In PAD there should be a way of validating a selector (to check that there is an element that matches the criteria of the selector) for the cases when we need to manually update the selector (this is a functionality that UiPath offers in its UI Explorer tool).

Also, is there a way of adding a new line to the selector, in addition to those already created automatically?

Thank you

Josias

    @JosiasDeleu hi,

    Thank you for your feedback.

You can modify the captured selectors through the selector builder.
Please take a look here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/ui-flows/desktop/ui-elements#element-properties
    and the answer here:

    Best regards,
    James

@JamesP_MSFT  Thank you for your quick response!

Although the selector builder allows certain modifications, it does not allows us for example to modify the HTML TAG. You can edit a limited number of properties that have been already determined by the tool automatically. It would be good to have more flexibility in the selector edition (we work with very complex web sites, whose elements' IDs are dynamic, and then the work with selectors is a fundamental part of the automation).

Moreover, we have no way to see if the selector you have modified is working or not until you run the automation again.

    Thank you

This a major concern, if there is no Validate button to quickly identify the location of a UI element an app/browser (like in UiPath) after making a selector edit without having to run the automation again.

Cumbersome, but a valid workaround.  After editing the selector, put in attach to browser immediately in front of it and a STOP after the edited selector action, and simply do a right click -> run from here on the attach to browser action.  It will attach to browser and try to do the edited selector action, so you can see if it works.

    Good luck!

Thanks, Michael. I'll try that as a workaround. I had created a test automation that just contained those actions in which I validate by swapping out the selected UI element, but your suggestion sounds even easier.
