Populate word template error - Unsupported Word Document version

(0) ShareShare

I am trying to use the populate word template feature but I cannot select any dotx files. I created a blank document, saved it as a template (dotx) with one control in it to my one drive and added the flow step connecting it to my one drive.

However my dotx file does not show up on the drop down for File input (I can see the folders in my one drive, however). If I manually enter the file using "/TestTemplate.dotx" for example, it says "Unsupported Word Document version. Please select a document edited on Word 2010 or newer"

I am definitely not using Word 2010/older to create the template file... I am using Office 365Screenshot 2021-02-25 163840.png

    In this case the problem is Microsoft's use of the word template.  They don't actually mean a Office Template.  Its just a Word Document that has had fields embedded in it.  Save your .dotx as a .Docx and it will work.  Its another case of MS using the same word for two completely different things.

    @Pstork1

    I am having the same issue except I'm writing to SharePoint not OneDrive.
