Solution: Delete and start over 😠
This workflow should send an approval request for when people publish a new News Post / Page. I'm using the built in PowerAutomate workflow found in the SharePoint library: Automate > Power Automate : Configure page approval flow. I've configured it to send my workflow account the approval requests. When I create a new page and submit for approval, I can open the workflow and see that it's not being triggered at all.
I have several sites that have the same requirement and have been mostly working with a workflow created this way. Although, the workflow has a notification that reads: The power flow's logic app flow template was invalid. The 'type' property of template trigger 'manual' at line '1' and column '77783' has the value 'Manual' which is deprecated in schema version '2016-04-01-preview' and onwards.
Yep, the only solution is to delete the workflow and create a new workflow until it works. It could help to cross your fingers and stand on one foot. No rhyme or reason for this, its how Power Automate works
Well... I had turned off the flow before when testing other triggers. I was only able to get 'When an item or file is modified' to react to a change. I then deleted everything and started over. Surprisingly, this did work. So you're initial suggestion - to delete the existing trigger - seems to have been the solution.
I just tested with the Selected item trigger and had no issues.
I think you should log a support ticket with Microsoft
Thank you for the suggestion. I've tested 'For a selected file' but this has the same result - no trigger.
This is awfully frustrating with this being such an integral part of the whole SharePoint experience. How could such a core element of the platform fail to function? I shouldn't need to configure anything if I have Content Approval enabled (other than who the approver is).
Try deleting the existing trigger and use the For Selected File instead
