  • I have an Environment called "QA"
  • I have a Security Group "Power QA" with Power Apps Premium and Power Automate Premium applied
  • I have a user "Tony Stark" in the Security Group "Power QA"
  • The "Power QA" Security Group is assigned to the "QA" Environment

Why can Tony Stark not see the "QA" Environment?

Do the other users of that group show up?

If you add him specifically as a User does he then show up?

It only shows up for those with "Global Administrators" Roles who are also in the "Power QA" Security Group.

For the account in question, Tony Stark who has no roles, it still does not show up.

As of this morning, the account and other accounts in the Security Group has appeared:

Tony Stark did not have any roles (annoying), so I've assigned him the "Basic User" role but it still doesn't show up:

Is there a known propagation time that isn't mentioned in documentation?

The Tony Stark user still cannot see the environment despite being apart of the Security Group assigned to the Environment and having the Basic User Security Role.

According to the documentation (Troubleshoot common user access issues for environments - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn)

"To access an environment, a user must meet the following criteria"

    1. Be enabled for sign-in in Microsoft Entra ID.

    2. Have a valid license that has a Dynamics 365 or Microsoft Power Platform recognized service plan, or the environment must have active per-app plans

    3. Be a member of the environment's Microsoft Entra group (if one has been associated with the environment).

    4. Have at least one Dataverse security role assigned directly to them or to a group team they're a member of.IPC_ahaas_6-1707943852257.png

    WHAT IS THE PROBLEM!?

The problem is that granting access to an Environment has nothing to do with the apps in the Environment. Only the data in the Environment. I get that now.

So what is the key to someone being able to use an environment? I have a user that meets all the requirements but can't see the environment to join. Could it be a cache issue?

I never found a resolution. My end goal was to get a user to see the app. I was going the route I access apps (as a Developer) to go to the Environment and find it. That's not necessary as they'll see any shared app from the Power Apps App on their device. Sharing the Environment is only step 1 to giving them access to data inside the Environment.
