Floating Point Error

Hi all,

I'm wondering if there's a standard practice for dealing with Decimal calculations to avoid 'floating point errors'. I don't have a history in computer science, so previously I've just bodged any calculations with decimals with a 'round' expression. I had previously only encountered this issue with Power Automate reading decimal calculations from excel, but today I discovered the same issue can arise from Power Automate.

I'm just wondering if there is some step/function/etc. I'm missing when working with decimals, or if the standard is just adding a round function to every decimal 'increment' action or decimal calculation expression?

Any suggestions\advice\best practises much appreciated,

Thanks,

Michalel

You can use the round() function to limit the number of decimal places after calculations, which will ensure correct result.  If you want precision, always round the results before using or storing them.
