Send email to SharePoint target audience members

Hi all,

is it possible to build a flow that sends an email to all members of a SharePoint target audience.

Use case: We are building a News Center and we are using the new SharePoint target audiences to hide and show certain news. As part of the News Center, we wanted to implement a flow, where upon triggering the flow, an email would be sent to all members of that specific target audience.

This works perfectly if I manually put in an email address, but of course I want the flow to loop through all email addresses from that target audience and send an email to each. Any idea how this could work? From the SharePoint list, I can import some dynamic content regarding target audiences, but only the mail of that target audience. There is no information regarding members. I would use O365 groups, but not all target audiences are O365 groups.

I'd be grateful for any help!

Cheers

    Hi @laresin ,

You could take a try to create the flow as below:

    Hi @v-alzhan-msft and @ChristianAbata ,

thanks for reaching out so fast 🙂 Much appreciated.

Unfortunately I don't think this solves my problem yet. We would like to build a triggered flow which looks at a SharePoint news item (For selected file), then looks at the associated target audience (assigned via modern pages audience targeting), then sends an email to all members of that target audience. Now even if that target audience is managed through a group, I haven't been able to use the List group members function because it won't accept dynamic content (or at least I cannot find a way to retrieve the group ID, which is the only dynamic content the 'List group members' function accepts).

Does this mean that mailing a target audience (independently from the SharePoint site from which I am triggering the Flow) cannot be done currently?

Best regards and thanks already for your help!

    Hi @laresin ,

Yes, I'm afraid that the requirement couldn't be achieved in Microsoft flow currently.

    Best Regards,

    Alice

I actually made it work after all. It's not elegant, but it works:

The object ID of the AD group that is behind the target audience (be that a distribution list or a security group) can be found as part of the Audience Claim dynamic content, which looks something like this:

    Audience Claims: c:1t.c|tenant|XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX

So what I did was to initialize a variable and set it the audience claim string minus the first part.

With this I was able to generate a member list from the AD group.
