Downloading files from Sharepoint share link

Hi,

I often get emails containing a link to .rar files located on Sharepoint and would like to automatically save the file from these links to a location on my OneDrive.

So far I have been able to extract the link from the email but am unsure how to proceed with actually getting the file from Sharepoint.

I'm not entirely sure what extra information about my situation might be needed but any assistance would be appreciated.

    To clarify:

the emails you receive come in from an internal or external source.

They come from an internal source

Thanks, as they are internal and you are within the same tenant thenI assume you can access the  Sharepoint Library where the files are located from a manual point of view.  If this is is the case then would a Flow that looks at this location and when a new file is added or modified it is copied to your OneDrive.

Unfortunately I don't think that would work,

These files are not all stored in the same location as they are created on a job-by-job basis and kept in separate folders, additionally I only get sent the files that are relevant to me.

I understand now, so taking the automation out of the equation I assume when you get the email containing the link you can still download the file from the SharePoint Library and folder that the link is pointing you to.  If this this is the case then this proves that the person sending out the links to you has given you permion ot access the Library and folder within.

With the above in mind then you only need to go back to your orginal question of being able to access the file and download/copy to your OneDrive.  I would sugget that you need to do this in two steps as follows:

    • Use your current flow to write the link to an Excel file
    • Then a new flow that takes that new entry information uses it in Send SharePoint HTTP request to the location, see below:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/sp-add-ins/working-with-folders-and-files-with-rest

The idea with my workaround is to get as much information split out to give you a way of having the dynamic content to populate a flow.  I might look horendus with lots of variables but you want this to be flexible.

    Regards,

    Andrew
