Embedded canvas app - JSON Parsing error, expected 'array' but got 'object'

Hi everyone,

I am trialling out the embedded canvas app experience on a model driven app. I have embedded a canvas app into the model driven app but unfortunately the canvas app fails to load/render. Instead the screen displays with "Getting your data" together with the below error message. It is not clear what is causing this:

Steps taken to create embed the canvas app:

  1. Created a new tab in my form with a one column section
  2. Switched to classic experience
  3. Added a mandatory field into the newly added section. I understand that Microsoft advise associating a embedded Canvas app control with a mandatory field from the data source
  4. Selected Canvas App from the field's properties
  5. Selected the Customize button and created a basic canvas app with two fields (ID and Title)
  6. Saved, named and published the canvas app
  7. Navigated back to the field properties window and set the Canvas app to be displayed in the Web
  8. Unchecked to Display label on the form
  9. Saved and Published
  10. Refreshed the browser in the form

Does anyone have any ideas?

    Now resolved.

For whatever reason, when I checked the App ID and App name by looking at the canvas app properties, they were different from what was displayed in the field properties property window in the classic editor.

After changing these manually in the field properties window, the embedded canvas form loaded without issue. It is not clear to me why this happened in the first place but I will mark this as resolved.
