No file extension when file is created in SP library.

Hi All,

I created a flow that copies the attachments from a SharePoint List to a SharePoint Library when a new item is created (When a new item is created>Get attachments>Apply to Each>Get attachment content>Create File). When a Word document is attached to a new item on the list, it is copied to the library, but it has no file type and will not open. However, when a pdf file is attached, it is copied WITH the file extension and opens correctly. Does anyone know how to fix this so that the Word document is saved with the file extension?

Thank you!

You need to include the file extension in the Create File action (e.g., ".docx").  If that is variable, you may be able to pull the extension from the DisplayName property as described in this previous post.

Thank you for the suggestion, but that doesn't work for me. I would need it to pull the file extension from the attached file since they will not all be the same, but I don't see anywhere to pull the file extension from the DisplayName property.

As a note, the file name is currently set as the DisplayName property and when you upload a pdf, the name of the file created includes the file extension. I do not understand why it is not the same for a word doc.
