Excel to SharePoint List not passing data?

(0) ShareShare

Hello,

I have a Table in Excel stored in OneDrive and I'm trying to update a SharePoint list with info from the rows.

I'm lost as I'm trying to update a single line of text with a string and the flow appears to work, but the SharePoint list for the PIC and SIC columns aren't populating correctly?

I tried using multi line, but no luck.... All my other rows of information are updating correctly?

What am I missing?

@as733y It's hard to tell with the screenshot you shared. Are you able to switch to the Classic Designer and expand all your actions while in edit mode and upload a screenshot of that?

In the meantime, you might find this YT Tutorial helpful: Are you using the Microsoft Power Automate Filter Array Action wrong?

I cover how to cross-reference an Excel table against a SP list and show you how to create items in SP that don't already exist and how to delete items in SP if they don't exist in your Excel table.

In this video tutorial I’ll show you 3 practical ways to use the Filter Array action and how to use it properly.

    1️⃣ Cross-Referencing Data

    2️⃣ Filtering by Key

    3️⃣ Substring Matching

Did you know that the Condition action has a limit of 10 conditions? Although it might look like the Filter Array action can only accept one condition—this is not true. By using the advanced mode you can enter multiple conditions into a Filter Array action with an expression.

    IN THIS VIDEO:

3 Ways to Use the Filter Array Action

How to use the Scope Action to Group Actions

How to Check the Number of Items returned from a Filter Array Action

How to Cross-Reference Data in Excel with a SharePoint List

How to Access the Dynamic Content from a Filter Array Action

How to Filter Items by a Key

How to Filter Items by Matching a Substring

How to Use Multiple Conditions in a Filter Array Action

    Hope this helps!

    HI @as733y,

What kind of data in Excel rows you want to save to PIC and SIC columns?

You want to save Date from excel to SP list? Or some sepcial type of data?

    hi @v-qiaqi-msft

Just a string to Single line of text column in SP.

Below screenshot shows flow ran successfully, however the SP column doesn't display the info?

    Hi @as733y

It would be good to know if the issue is only with those 2 columns. Are those 2 columns the only columns that do not get updated based on the excel? What happens if you change an other column in the excel and run the flow again? Does that change the item in the list?

    Hi @LLinx ,

Yes, just those two columns (PIC & SIC) are not working, which is why I'm confused.

I have other Single Line of text columns that work just fine.

@as733y Can you clarify what you are expecting SP to display? From this screenshot it looks like there are values—what does it look like in SharePoint?

    @creativeopinion

I'm expecting the names circled in the screenshot displayed in SP as string values.

As you mentioned, it appears like the flow is working correctly (at least capturing the correct info), however the values are blank in SP.

Screenshot of what shows in SP and my Columns.

@as733y How do those values look in Excel? Is it a calculated cell?

    @creativeopinion

It pulls from a table, but no, just text in a "General" column.
