CDS Data Integrator Project - Oracle Connections Not available

Hi There, We are setting up a new project under admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com > Data Integration. I have setup a connection to Oracle DB from Data Flow section in make.powerapps.com However, when trying to setup a connection set under Data Integration Project, unable to see newly created Oracle Connection. I can see SQL Connections but not Oracle connections.

I can create a Data Flow with the the oracle connection from make.powerapps but not a CDS Data Integration Project in admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com. Is the Oracle connection not supported in CDS Data Integration project?

Hi @KunalKochhar1

CDS Data Integration Projects are a couple years old now and are generally better suited for integrated different parts of Dynamics, and in fact I don't even think they can connect to Oracle.

You can do your integration in a Dataflow, which will do the same thing, you don't need a corresponding Data Integration Project. In fact, once a Dataflow successfully runs, I believe it even shows up as a Data Project in the admin center.

Thanks SKH19. Few issues we found with Data Flow which made us looking at CDS Data Integration Projects, see if you can provide commentary on each of these issues and if they are known to you:

The Data Flow was having issues setting up lookup fields with Alternate Key from source. Have you seen this issue before and is there a guidance anywhere on how to set these alternate key fields within Data Flow? In CDS Data Integration Projects this lookup field is available and sets its correctly.
When Creating a Data Flow and if we switch to CDS Data Integration Project the data source is not set in the connection set, it just shows source as Mashup and hence doesn't then allow to do the field mappings. So really it doesn't help having CDS Data Integration Project autocreated from Data Flow
Within CDS Data Integration Project it allows to create Tasks which then executes in order, I am assuming within Data Flow the order of entities mapped is similar? This is going to be critical for setting up the lookup values
Data Flow throttles with an error when it is upserting more thank 6000 records, we were planning to break this in chunks via CDS Data Integration Project Tasks.

Setting up lookup filed with alternate key gives following error in Data Flow when syncing data:

Missing destination field cr931_accountlookup.new_accountlookupnumber in the schema

Hi @KunalKochhar1

1) I haven't done alternate keys with lookup fields before. But my experience with dataflows has been pretty good, provided I set up the CDS beforehand rather than letting it automatically create my entities. I know lookup is a data type that alternate keys are supposed to support. This sounds like it might need a support ticket.
2) Yeah, there isn't much you can do from there, but it does allow you to monitor your dataflow.
3) If you need tasks to execute in order then I would suggest a more complex integration project in Azure Data Factory.
4) Between needing to use Oracle as a data source, needing to do more than 6000 records and needing to break things into tasks, I really don't think either dataflows or data integrator projects are going to work for you. I think you should consider Azure Data Factory Data Flows.
