Help with a flow using a dynamic lookup with Leave Approval

I am fairly new to flows and need help! I have a flow that that takes the information from a Leave Request form, sends an approval request, updates a SharePoint List and Sends an email to the requesting person whether approved or not approved.

This flow works, but I need to get the approver (assigned to) from a SharePoint List (Leave Request Approvers).  I have tried a couple of different things, but don't seem to be able to make it work.

I want to use the email address of the responder to determine the approver. Approver is a People/Group column so I don't know that I need Approver Email.

If you want to retrieve user information for approvers from a SharePoint list, use the "Get Items" action in SharePoint to retrieve the items in the list.
The items need to be filtered and refined.
Set the dynamic content of the "Get Items" result to "Assign to" in the approval action.

This doesn't work for me. the Get Items is placed within a apply to each and I get a flow error message so the approval is for each nested within an for each and won't run.
