Power Automate - Building Flows

In MS Todo how is "mark as important" recorded for the task?

I'm a Power Automate early learner.

I want to trigger an action in a flow when a task in MS Todo is made important by checking the star for the task.

However, in the dynamic fields of Todo, I see nothing that I can grab related to a task being marked as important.

(Bonus question - Also, why does Todo only trigger from a specified List/Folder? Why can't I have the Todo trigger monitor all the lists/folders in my Todo?)

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community.

Let's tackle them one by one.

Triggering an Action When a Task is Marked as Important

Unfortunately, as of now, Microsoft To Do does not provide a direct trigger for when a task is marked as important. The dynamic fields available in Power Automate for To Do tasks do not include a specific field for the "important" status. This means you can't directly trigger a flow based on a task being marked as important.

Regarding your bonus question, Microsoft To Do triggers in Power Automate are designed to work with specific lists or folders. This is likely due to the way the service is structured and how it manages tasks. Monitoring all lists/folders would require a more complex setup and could potentially lead to performance issues or unintended triggers.

However, you can create multiple flows to monitor different lists/folders individually. While this isn't as convenient as having a single trigger for all lists, it allows you to achieve a similar outcome by setting up separate flows for each list or folder you want to monitor.

    Workaround Suggestions
Custom Field: If marking a task as important is crucial for your workflow, consider using a custom field or tag that you can monitor with Power Automate.

Multiple Flows: Set up multiple flows to monitor each list/folder separately. This way, you can ensure that all your tasks are covered, even if it requires a bit more setup.

I hope this helps you on your Power Automate journey! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
