Connect library and task list with Flow

Hi all

I am just getting started with MS Flow and Sharepoint Online. I am, however, facing some issues when trying to connect a form library to a sharepoint task list. This is what I am trying to achieve:

1. The user fills out a infopath form (I should move to powerapps – I know J) which is then submitted as a new item in a SPO form library.
2. When a new form is submitted, MS Flow automatically takes the column information from the form library and use to create a new item in my sharepoint task list.
3. The infopath form file, contained in the form library, is copied to the new task item as an attachment.

I’ve managed to get 1 and 2 to work, but I am completely lost when it comes to the attachment. Is it even possible to extract a file from a document library and use it as an attachment on a new task list item?
The reason I need the infopath form file included in the task list item is, that the user is allowed to attach multiple files in this form, and I need access to these files directly from the task list. If there is any other way to allow the user to attach files when submitting a request and then having these attachment copied to the task list, I am willing to have a look at that as well 🙂

Thank you in advance

Quickly scanning your post my first recommendation is to forget InfoPath. It's old technology and PowerApps/Flow is the way to go. I'll look at the rest of your post but someone more knowledgeable may well respond before I can.

    Hi @msp71 ,

You could get the file name by Get file metadata/Get file properties action and get the file content through Get file content action.

Then create a new item in the Task list. If the list is a Task list, you need to click Enter custom name and manually enter the list name in the List name.

Then add the file as an attachment to the item.

    Hi Barry
Thank you for the response - I will try it out first thing on monday.

How does Flow know to “get file content/properties” from the newest added file in the library? 🙂

    Hi @msp71 ,

You could use When a file is created(Properties only) as trigger.

    Hi Barry

I now finally got a chance to test the flow. However, when adding the get file/metadata/attach file actions, my flow doesn't work any longer. As soon as I remove all of these actions and stick to the "when new item is created  --> create item" actions, the flow still works.

This is my details - hopefully you are able to see what I am doing wrong 🙂 Thank you for your help so far!

    Hi @msp71 ,

Is the List configured in the trigger?

If you want to get the files in the Library, you should use When a file is created(properties only) as the trigger and select specified library.
