what is the best way to implement logs in power automate desktop flows?

is it like write to csv file?

if you have 10 flows, how do you handle this? 10 csv files for diff apps?

are there any tools in PAD?

basically I want to log  important steps in my flow like

step1 started , step2 is ok, step3 done and step 4 success something like that.

AND errors as well.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Surya.

    Hi @mitsurya

I think the best way to do this would be to you can have bot write the data to csv / text file having details of timestamp, action taken by bot.

For faster development purposes, You can create a seperate desktop for logging purposes, which would write data to file by passing required details and file path of file where data need to written. that desktop flow should take care of creating file if it is not avaialble based on path etc 🙂

    Hope this helps 🙂

KIndly mark it as solution if it resolves your query.

    Hi @mitsurya

You can log your important steps by using List actions.

You can use action 'Create List' ,then before every important steps use Action 'Add Item to list' and write Step name in it.

    Example:

    AakashC123_0-1679916630180.png

then at the end, write List in 'Write to Text Action' .

and if Exception Comes then use 'Get last Error' Action with List in 'Write Text to file' Action
