Approval Process override from Admin?

I created a flow approval process.  Every now and then someone is out of office or on maternity leave, or maybe even wrong email, ...

Is there a way to assign to someone else from an admin perspective (not end user) and not break the flow?

Thanks,

Terry

    Hi,

Unfortunately there really isn't a way to reassign it without going through the user who it was assigned to. However I've seen this request a few times and there is a semi decent workaround for this. My recommendation would to add another use to the approval request (assuming the approval is set to first to respond) and assign the request to a service account or an admin account so if that user is unable to approve then an admin can go in and approve or deny the request on that account.

    Regards,

    Alex

This is a nice workaround but if using an admin account as backup approver it will be bombarded with approval emails and Teams notifications. A service account will be less of a problem.

The easy way is obviously to cancel the running flow update the approver value and resubmit the flow.

For planned absences I have created a simple Sharepoint list where people add their absence dates and who they delegate to. My flow then checks if there is an active delegation so it is assigned to the right person.
