1st automation - get attachment from specific email outlook folder place in specific sharepoint folder

Hello All,

This is my first attempt at an automation task.

I have a .csv file that arrives in Outlook, in a specific folder (via Outlook Rules) with a specific Subject and specific Filename. The file is sent to Outlook each day and has the same filename.  It is actually a result from a NetSuite search - so someday maybe I can get it directly from NetSuite and skip the Outlook step. I do the same thing with a Salesforce Report in Outlook.

I would like to save/copy the attachment to a SharePoint folder. It would overwrite the file from the previous day.

Once in SharePoint, send a notification that it arrived safely and list the subject, file size and file name.

I have looked around to learn a bit, but would really appreciate a "line by line" explanation so I can get a good feel for using this tool for other tasks.

Also, if you have any recommendations of best practices I would really appreciate all the help.

Thank you for your time!

    Hi @JayRay

    Thank you for posting.

According to your description, you would like to save specific attachment to sharepoint and send notification daily. If any misunderstanding, please kindly let me know.

Here is the flow overview for your reference:

Flow in detail (Please pay attention to the painted part)

To save attachment from email to SharePoint, we can only use ‘create file’ action instead of ‘copy file’. Because copy file can only be applied to two locations within SharePoint. Thus, we can’t overwrite the old csv file using ‘create file’ action.

From my recommendation, we can add a timestamp before filename for that csv file to help us distinguish files based on date.

The expression should be : formatDateTime(utcNow(),'yyyy-MM-dd')

After testing, if I send a csv file named ‘Health-Check.csv’. The flow runs and get below result.

    File created in SharePoint:

Hope the content above may help you.

    Best regards,

    Anna
