Dear community,

I need your help with a specific case: I have an Excel file with multiple tabs, and there is a built-in button within the file that refreshes the data when clicked. However, the refresh process can take up to 10 minutes to complete.

My question is: Is it possible to automate this process using Power Automate? Specifically, I’d like Power Automate to open the file daily, click the refresh button, wait for the data update to complete, and then save a new version of the file.

If this is possible, could you briefly explain how to set it up or share a tutorial? Also, does this require Power Automate Desktop? If so, which license is needed for this functionality?

Yes, this requires Power automate desktop to click on the button you are mentioning, check below link for your reference

If your goal is refreshing Power BI reports linked to Excel, you can use the "Refresh Power BI Dataset" action instead, then you can fully automate without need of Power Automate Desktop
