Merge PDF files using Power Automate Desktop - Output File Size is much Bigger

  1. We need to merge three files into one File, PDF>Merge PDF Files, the Output-Type1 file Size is much bigger than original file size.
  2. We have tried using Acrobat-PRO,  and used Merge Option - Output-Type2, the file Size is almost sum total of the Original size.
  3. Please advise the How can we achieve the smaller PDF File Size by using PDF>Merge PDF Files.(Similar to Output-Type2)

Typically, large PDF file sizes are due to everything being seen as images rather than text.  I would have the flow open the final product in Adobe, run OCR, and then Save and Close.  This could reduce the file size tremendously.

    Best of luck.

We have tried earlier OCR, but working well.

The challenge we are having the Machine that will be used with PAD doesn't have acrobat PRO licenses, therefore we need to use PAD to Merge the PDF files.

    Please help

There are several options listed on this thread:

    https://superuser.com/questions/34284/combine-merge-pdf-files-in-windows

I recommend choosing 1, such as PDFTK.  Once you have everything set up, the bot can simply run a single command line that should merge them without changing them into images.

Failed attempts - If you manually select all, right click, and use the "combine" function, that does not make them images, but I believe this is an Adobe Pro feature, so you probably wouldn't be able to build a bot to do that.  I also tried using "Extract PDF file pages to new PDF file," but it had 2 issues: 1) defining the number of pages in each PDF and 2) it always saved the additional pages to a new file, so was ending up sitting in the same boat I started.

    Best of luck.
